Αν δεν έχει ολοκληρωθεί η πώληση της Λίβερπουλ μέχρι τις 15 Οκτωβρίου, τότε η ομάδα κινδυνεύει με αφαίρεση 9 βαθμών.

Οι κανόνες της Premier League αναφέρουν ότι η ποινή αυτή μπορεί να εφαρμοστεί αν η αφερεγγυότητα της ιδιοκτήτριας εταιρίες έχει προκληθεί από την από τη διοίκηση του συλλόγου.

Πάντως, σήμερα (Παρασκευή) υπήρχε μια θετική εξέλιξη, καθώς η Premier League έδωσε την έγκρισή της για την πώληση του συλλόγου στην εταιρία, NESV, η οποία έχει κάνει πρόταση 300.000.000 λιρών και αυτή έχει γίνει αποδεκτή.

Αν όμως οι Τομ Χικς και Τζορτζ Ζιλέτ συνεχίζουν να μπλοκάρουν την πώληση, τότε η διαχείριση της ιδιοκτήτριας εταιρίας θα περάσει στην Τράπεζα της Σκωτίας (Royal Bank of Scotland), λόγω των χρεών των 280.000.000 λιρών.
